PAUL HART LEAVES FRATTON PARK!

BBC Sport understands that Paul Hart has resigned from his post at Fratton Park citing differences between his views and the club's board views.
Executive Chairman, Peter Storrie said "We'd like to thank Paul for what he's done at the club in his short time here. We will now be searching for a new manager for this great club."
It is understood that there are budget restrictions at Fratton Park so there may be only a small time boss coming in.
Assistant boss Brian Kidd has become Portsmouth's new caretaker boss.

Well that was a shock! Paul Hart leaving like that! Can't say I was ever confident when he was in charge though!

Let me introduce myself. My name is Chris Mountain. I am 30 years old, I am a former footballer who was a no nonsense centre half who made 47 appearances for England, scoring the one goal.
I retired from professional football in 2004 when I had a horrible leg break injury, I could have stayed at Middlesbrough but they're a good club and I didn't want to take their money. They offered me a coaching job there but at that time, I wanted to just relax to be honest. In May of 2006, there was a youth coaches job at Leeds so I went in for it and got it. I really enjoyed it but after only one season, Middlesbrough came in and offered me the assistant's job at Middlesbrough with Gareth Southgate. We knew each other well so it helped but I didn't really enjoy it as I wanted to become a manager.

There have been offers from Grays and Stalybridge in the last 3 months but I rejected them both. There was no need for me to go down there and I was happy at my home in Portsmouth where I'd actually become a fan!

There was jubilation last season when we'd won the FA Cup but when Harry left, Paul Hart was given the job but he has only lasted a matter of weeks.
I phoned my good friend Peter Storrie to ask about putting an application in and he said that it was done!
Maybe Pompey will be my first managerial stop in my managerial career!

I was looking through the national papers this morning and saw the betting for the new job.
It was according to Sky bet :

Avram Grant - 2/1
Alan Curbishley - 5/1
Glenn Hoddle - 8/1
Gus Poyet - 10/1
Joe Jordan - 12/1
Slaven Bilic - 12/1
David O'Leary - 12/1
Graeme Souness - 16/1
Paul Jewell - 25/1.

Seems like a set of decent names to be honest... except Hoddle that is! No offence to the man, I think he's a good manager but Pompey fans won't want him down here! Plus he's doing a great job out in Spain as well.
Paul Jewell seems like a dead weight to be honest, never really rated him.
Souness is too hard on his players.
Gus Poyet is too inexperienced, but then you can say that about me!
Otherwise, I wouldn't mind who gets it, well except if it's not me! Haha!

The day before the transfer window opens!
I'm really excited about this year in the Premier League, some talent seems to be coming in from home and abroad.
Obviously Robinho for Manchester City has signed so they will probably be stronger.
Liverpool's youngsters may actually have a chance to stake a claim this season as Rafa Benitez' club are in financial meltdown and moeny is quite tight there.

Anyway, I haven't heard back from Peter Storrie yet about an interview for the manager' job at Pompey. Maybe, I'm not good enough for them?
Maybe, I shouldn't have rejected Grays so quickly!

The News (the local newspaper at Pompey) are reporting that Avram Grant has been seen around Fratton Park so maybe they have not decided to go for me.

Please Read and Comment! Thanks.

The first day of the transfer window... and nobody's bothered to sign anyone yet! Well it can't stay like that forever!

It's 5 o clock in the evening, I've done absolutely nothing today, to be honest.
I'm going to play Football Manager 2009 I think...
Ooh hang on! The phone's going!

"Hello..."
"Hi Chris, it's Peter."
"Peter who?"
"Peter Storrie, mate! I'm sure you haven't forgotten about me!"
"Oh!!! Sorry Pete! I know a lot of Pete's."
"That's ok Chris. I'm just phoning to tell you about your application for the manager's job."
"Oh. Haven't you agreed a deal with Avram yet?"
"No we haven't. To be honest, he's not really what we're looking for."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, I was wondering whether you'd be able to come down to Fratton Park tomorrow at 11 in the morning?"
"Oh wow! Yeah sure!"
"Now, don't get too excited mate, it's only an interview. The owner really wanted Avram in but I managed to persuade him to go for somebody who could be a fan's favourite."
"Oh, thankyou so much Peter."
"No problem, see you at 11."
"Yeah, see you then."
"Bye."
"Bye."
The phone hangs up!

Oh...my...goodness...gracious...me!
I've got an interview!!!!!!!!
Maybe not the job but still it's an interview.
Bring on tomorrow!

I was at Fratton Park. It wasn't the best stadium in the world but I knew this is where I may be working for a while.
I went to reception. There was a receptionist on the counter, I just said my name and she smiled. I was told to wait in a seat in the reception area.
After about 5 minutes, I saw Peter (Storrie) coming round the corner, he came over to me and said :
"Hi Chris, nice to see you, would you come with me?"
"Yeah sure!"
We walked over to what looked like the board room. Peter stopped and said:
"Chris, i'll be honest. You're not Gaydamak's first choice so he may be a bit hostile towards you at the start."
"Yeah I'm sure I can handle it."
"Right."
Peter knocked the door once and we went in. The board room wasn't a big room but it was quite spacious with a big table in the middle.
Sacha Gaydamak sat at the head chair.
He said "Sit down."
My interview begun...

"So Mr Mountain, what can you bring to this club?"
"Well I think that I can bring hard work and greater team work into this club, the club needs to keep on getting better after last season."
"Ok, how will you do this?"
"By making the players work harder in training, using the scouting knowledge to bring in good players."
[color="Black"]"Right, if there was a problem with a player, let's say he doesn't
turn up to training once, what would you do?"
"Well, I would check to see if they are alright and ask why they didn't come to training. If it is a good excuse, like the wife was ill or something like that, I'd just remind them about their responsibilities. If they do it again without telling me, they would be warned."
"Good, well thank you for coming Chris, we'll be in touch."
"Ok, thank you bye!"

Ah! Well that didn't go too badly. I have a decent chance I think. I walked towards the entrance and I saw Graham Rix! What's he doing here?! Surely I'm not going into direct battle with him?

Anyway, I went home and I was worried to be honest for the club if Rix got the job so I phoned Peter.
"Hello, who is this?"
"It's Chris, Chris Mountain."
"Oh hi Chris, I'm sorry mate, we haven't had chance to decide yet."
"No, I wasn't calling about that. I saw Graham Rix coming into the club when I left."
"Yes, you probably did."
"Oh, is he in with a chance then?"
"Well, he put a job application form in so we interviewed him."
"But he did rubbish last time."
"Yeah I know but we have interviewed everybody who's put in an application."
"Oh, that's ok then."
"Well I have to go now Chris, see you."
"Ok, Bye."

Ah, at least I may not lose out to Rix!
I better get an early night, it's 11 o clock already!

Ah what a great night's sleep.
The phone woke me up and it was Peter Storrie.

"Hi Chris."
"Hi Peter."
"Just like to tell you that Sacha has put you on our top three candidates so you have a chance of getting the job."
"Oh wow! Thanks so much Pete."
"No problem, see you."
"Bye."
The phone was put down on me.

Got the local newspaper this afternoon and it seems Storrie went to the paper and announced the candidates to the fans. It seems it's me, Paul Jewell and Gus Poyet for the job. Not the best candidates ever.
Paul Jewell did well for Wigan but went to Derby and technically did worse that Billy Davies there and they got the lowest points total. He's been out of work for a bit and lost out to Billy for the Nottingham Forest job.
Gus Poyet has no managerial experience at all, only lots of playing time and helping Dennis Wise at Leeds and Juande Ramos at Tottenham.
So I have a big chance then.

I haven't heard anything from the club for a few days and it is a Sunday today so I suppose no business will be done!
However, the phone is ringing!
"Hello, Chris Mountain speaking."
"Hi Chris, it's Peter."
"Oh hi Pete, how are you?"
"I'm good thanks Chris and yourself?"
"Yeah I'm great thanks."
"I'm phoning to give you some news on the job."
"Oh?"
"I'm sorry Chris but..."
"You don't need to finish that sentence."
"You won't be able to sit on your bum all day anymore! You are the new manager of Portsmouth!"
"Oh my goodness!!!! Thanks so much Pete!"
"Yes, it's quite alright, just prove me right for picking you, ok?"
"I will, I promise."
"Good, we are having a meeting tomorrow so if you'd like to come in at around 10?"
"Yes, I'll be there."
"Good, well see you then. Bye!"
"Bye Peter and thanks."
The phone hangs up.

Oh my goodness, I'm a premier league manager!!! I had to phone my parents who were understandably pleased for me but told me to keep myself sane for tomorrow. I had to agree. Now I'd better get back to Football Manager... who shall I manage? Portsmouth? Yeah why not...

I had to get up quite early today to go to Fratton Park to meet my new board.
Sacha was there with Peter Storrie who was smiling at me and Roberto Avando, another board member was there.
He told me that indeed I had got the manager's job.
However with a couple of conditions :
My contract was only worth £8,250 per week.
Contract ends on 30 June 2009.

I said it was ok though as I needed the cash and believed I could do a job here.
They told me to come back tomorrow morning for a second meeting about board expectations and budgets. Hopefully I'll have a decent transfer budget.

FORMER INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALLER BECOMES POMPEY BOSS.

Former International Footballer Chris Mountain today was announced as Portsmouth's new manager. Portsmouth let Paul Hart leave last week so were looking for a new boss. It is understood that Pompey interviewed Avram Grant and Paul Jewell but it seems that chairman Sacha Gaydamak wanted Mountain.
He is being put into a press conference in a few days time so Mountain can get into his new job.
This is Mountain's first job in football management so it will be interesting how he'll do.
Neither Mountain or anybody at the club was available for comment at this moment in time.

Wow, that's a decent article about me. Well goodnight, I better be ready for the morning.

Well I'm back at Fratton Park again and I've been called into Sacha's office. He has just told me his expectations for the season:
Top Half Finish
Transfer budget = £6.5m
Wage budget = £725,000 p/w (currently £657,768 p/w).

Also :
Fifth Round of FA Cup.
Fourth Round of League Cup.

Well, the transfer budget is quite low so maybe some free's and loans coming into the club and one biggish signing.

They told me I could leave and a middle aged man was outside to show me to my office. The office was ok, I suppose. It had white walls, a Pompey scarf hanging on it and also a poster of this year's team. It had a decent sized desk in the middle of the room with one chair on one side nearest the window (my chair) and two chairs opposite, on the other side of the desk. The desk itself had a desk tidy with pens and pencils and stuff. Also, on it was a brand new laptop which was nice.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door and Peter Storrie entered, congratulating me on the job and that pre season had started today so I hadn't missed much, thankfully. He left me be after a while.

I think I'm going to like it here.
