Default Russian Football

Anyone got a game in Russia going?

I'm currently managing Zenit, won the title in my first season and the European supercup.

I have to say the standard of the Russian league is not bad at all in this game.

My "start unemployed" game took my to Sokol Saratov midway through their first season. They were 19th when I took over but a decent run of results, P19 W9 D4 L6 took us to a finishing 11th place.

Some strengthening of the spine of the team during the transfer window (brought in new keeper, new centre back, new attacking midfielder and a big man/little man combo up top (Antipenko 6 foot 5, 19 jumping, 20 heading and Bolivian sensation Arce, 19 pace, 17 accel, 20 finishing). Opening 10 games we've won 6 drew 3 and lost 1 but sit only fourth, top 2 promoted.

Got a Zenit save on the go at the moment.

The aim is to make Zenit a dominant force in Europe before moving to one of the other leagues I've loaded (Germany, Italy, Spain).

Won the league first season and got to the second round of the CL before going out to Madrid on away goals.

Started on the default database so still have Arshavin and Tymoshuck.

Prudnikov has been my only notable signing.

By far my proudest 09 moment. This is. I'm ecstatic.

After beating Ajax in the Champions League Qualifiers 2nd round, we faced Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Leg 1:

Leg 2:

Subsequently.

Guiza, Semih, Roberto Carlos, Volkan, Lugano, Alex, Kazim and co. Your boys have taken one hell of a beating*.

* May be overexaggerated.

FC Moskva! FC Moskva! FC Moskva!

Through to the group stages and with £4m in the bank. That four million is so much to us. Hopefully we can expand the stadium soon. I'd like to thank Schteve McClaren for this moment.

Default Campiones! Campiones! OLE! OLE! OLE!

Campiones! 2012! Four seasons in and I've finally overthrown Spartak and CSKA!

After getting beat on goal difference last season, it was a close affair again. Although I'd wrapped it up with one game left to spare But then my reserves got beat by Zenit to make the league look closer, once more.

And then, talk about humiliation!

Manager of the Year, gets approached by his teams biggest rivals...

I enjoyed rejecting that! We are currently third in a CL group containing Arsenal, Juve and Braga. If we beat Juve away, we seal CL knockouts. If we lose, we get Europa league knockout stages. Either way, we're going through!

FC Moskva! FC Moskva! FC Moskva!

Because whilst a few people know it/part of it, I'm not a great fan of my name showing up on google searches, especially when it's future bosses who are googling.

I'm currently managing CSKA Moscow. I know, I know by far the easiest club in Russia, but I just couldn't resist. I rarely start saves with the strongest western clubs, so I never had a chance to manage Vagner Love which I really wanted, so instead of starting as Man City and buying him, I decided to go at the source. And the guy is brilliant... Also CSKA has some huge talent in Necid, Dzagoev, Caner and the one and only Akinfeev. The problem is a low number of players for rotation.

Very fun game so far (only 7 foreigners in the first 11? Come on, comrades?). I have practically secured the home title (5 matches to go, 8 points ahead) and am currently battling in the EURO cup against the likes of Deportivo and Herta. My players are very young, so I don't expect miracles in the first season, but we'll see.

The only really annoying thing in Russia is the huge gap in fixtures during the summer, you have to arrange friendlies or your players will be completely out of form.

One question for you blokes managing in the east. Did you get newgens the first year? I started a game at the beginning of the 2008, and now I'm in march 2009, and still haven't got the newgens. I read somewhere that in Russia they are created late December, but I didn't get them, neither did any of the Russian clubs. Is this common?

Seven foreigners? Lucky, lucky, man. It goes down each season until you hit 5 (well it did for me, anyway). I can't remember whether I got newgens in the first season, sorry. Although they come around the changeover date, which if I remember correctly is March.

It was seven in the first season, and given that the second one didn't start form me yet, I can't be sure, but I checked the rules of the Premier league, and it still says 7.

Mine has gone down to five. Not quite sure why. But anyway, the real reason I'm here. We got knocked out of the CL after an away loss to Juve, but we went into the UEFA cup knockouts.

FC Moskva! FC Moskva! FC Moskva!

Marching on into the Quarters to face Olympiakos with a possible Semi Final against the winner of Genoa/Fiorentina.

Good work!

Could you post a screeny of your team?

Sure.

Yes, yes. My team is huge! I have a lot of decent Russian youngsters that come into the team if I need to. I am also aware that I have many Brazilians, too many. Quite a few players on that screenshot are regens and are only in the first team because I played a weak team in the league.

Original FC Moskva players: Nababkin, Shubin, Rebko, Barrientos, Stavpets.

I'd also reccommend: Choco, Gatcan and Smirnov. Gatcan is Moldovan with a Russian passport and Smirnov is Russian so I can play more Non-EU players. They are also very good. Gatcan from Rostov in the 1.Division and Smirnov from Terek.

I'm absolutely loving this save, still. My stadium keeps getting expanded, as do the training and youth facilities and my bank balance stands at just under £30m (€33m to me and you!). Hopefully now we are getting somewhere in Europe as well.

Clubs finances have gone from Stable, when I joined, to Rich. The clubs value has risen from £20m to £48m.

Eduard Streltsov Stadia has gone from 13,200 to 26,500 in three separate expansions.

---

How are you finding the awkward scheduling of the European Cups?

EDIT: The second "big name" (behind Balotelli) has agreed to sign for FC Moskva in September. Jeremy Menéz will be coming for £2.5m!

It's a nuisance, to say the least. And the fact that Russian cup starts at the end of the season and ends in the middle of the next is not helping in the confusion. There are lots of times when you don't have a single match for a few weeks, and than have 3 matches in 5 days...
