Hardly known as a hotbed of footballing talent, Austria is a country which nevertheless has a few hidden gems that could quite easily grace your team with a few players that are capable of playing at the very highest level.

Shown below are the best of the Austrian talent available, showing them at the start of the game in 2010 and then again in either 2016, 2020 or 2023 depending on their age.



2010 2020


Probably the best known of the Austrian talents and for good reason. Alaba is up there with the most promising midfielders in the game. A future Austrian captain, I can't say enough to tell you how highly I rate Alaba.



2010 2020


6'4'' central midfielders are always fun and Holzhauser has the potential to fulfil that "Tim Cahill role", arriving late in the box to trouble the defence.





2010 2016


Attributes in all the right places to make a cracking winger and is a joy to watch with his pace and dribbling. Consistency can be an issue btu when he's good, he's very good.




2010 2020


Bit of a wildcard here as Derflinger hasn't developed as well on my game as I belief he has on others but he's got definite potential to match his growing reputation on the continent as one of the next big things.



2010 2016


Another one who comes with a caveat - Arnautovic's dribbling is a sight to behold - with strength, height and pace he's very hard to get off the ball. When he's in the mood he can be excellent but comes with an attitude problem that can be a risk.



2010 2020


One who surprised me with his progression, I certainly didn't expect Super Kev to be the player he has turned into. Has the potential to be an absolutely top class striker.
