Introduction
Alot of Championship Manager players will know Stefan Selakovic from the 2001-2002 version of the series, he was cheap to buy at the start of the game and developed into one of the best players of the virtual world.

When was he great?
From experience he reached his peak on the 'red case' version of the game, Championship Manager 2001/2002 when both football management entities Eidos and Sports Interactive were still working together. In a version that is available for free these days I find it amazing the amount of change that has come around and what more change will come ten years later when the next version is launched.

Why I love him?
I had just taken over as manager at the Hawthorns and spent the first couple of days scouring for new talent. I decided to stay away from the more popular youth players and sign Selakovic. At 24 years old, he was different, he had reached what we call these days his current potential and looked the real deal. With great stats such as, Stamina, 16, Set Pieces, 16, Acceleration, 16, Agility, 16, Creativity, 16 and Decisions, 16 he was the perfect player to fit in the hole behind my strikers. Playing a 5-3-2 system he was the key to my tactic. He regularly picked up the ball and used it wisely, notching more assists than goals he guided my side into Europe, the next season we reached the latter stages. With more signings that came in, in and around him we became a force domestically and throughout Europe. I wish I could remember more about that save as that game is one of my fondest memories of playing football manager. During the 'red case' version all we had was the commentary to read so unfortunately I couldn't see all his quality in 3D.

What's he done in real life?
He stayed plying his trade in Scandinavia for his early years, first with Varbergs and then he moved to the bigger Halmstad whom he played 119 times for. Including winning the Allsvenskan in 2000. Aside from his team honours he was named top scorer in the league in 2001, in total he scored 37 goals for Halmstad. With he good form he moved to Holland to try and crack Europe with Heerenveen. Unfortunately he was unable to continue his good form and returned back to Sweden with IFK Goteborg in 2005. He stills turns out week in week out for IFK and he's nearing his 100th app for the club.

What's he like in FM these days?
At 33 years old you could say he is past it. A natural right winger that is 'accomplished' up top and 'competent' on the opposite flank he'd be a good signing for a Championship/League 1 club if you can afford the Ł275,000 - Ł500,000 IFK will demand from you. He is interested in taking up a assistant manager role at the end of his playing career but I'm not sure on how his mental attributes will transfer into staff attributes as in my current save he retired without becoming staff.
